Beer, good times and Oktoberfest costumes.
Prost! Cheers!
Oktoberfest 2016 was just as much fun as it is every year. It's the perfect way to celebrate German culture: with food and beer. And you don't even need to buy a ticket to Munich.
Whether you got dressed up in an Oktoberfest costume, went to an event, or had your own party, we hope your Oktoberfest was a good one.
Here are some of the highlights of Oktoberfest 2016 and what we're looking forward to in 2017.
Oktoberfest in the Gardens

The
Oktoberfest in the Gardens events kicked off all over Australia. It was their sixth year running the events and it was bigger and better than ever.
The events in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney involved two giant, German-style beer halls, German food stalls, live music and performances, and other attractions. And plenty of delicious German beer.
With tens of thousands of attendees (and even more litres of beer), the events were a huge success in every city. There were also a very Bavarian vibe with plenty of people in Oktoberfest costumes.
If you missed the events, you can see all the photos and videos on their
Facebook page. It's not quite as good as having been there, but you'll just have to make sure you get to the 2017 events.
Oktoberfest costumes

We were excited to see so many people getting into the spirit of the Volksfest and getting dressed up in Oktoberfest costumes.
It's a scientific fact that wearing
lederhosen or a
Bavarian dress improves the taste of German beer. So what better way could there be to experience Oktoberfest?
Here at Blossom, we have a huge range of
Oktoberfest costumes. And we increase our catalogue every year.
Oktoberfest in Germany: fun facts

By all accounts, the original Oktoberfest in Munich was a hit in 2016. It was the 183rd Oktoberfest and attracted an estimated 5.6 million people, a slightly lower turnout than in 2015.
Every year, over six million litres of beer is served from more than a dozen large tents. People attempted to take over 96,000 beer mugs away with them as souvenirs and were stopped by security. Mayor Joseph Schmid described the "muggings" as like a sport for some people.
Almost three thousand items were handed in to the lost and found tent, including 660 wallets, 580 passports, and 410 smartphones. Someone even found a "doctor's certificate for work disability for the duration of the Oktoberfest according to their recap.
All in all, it sounds like Oktoberfest is as popular as ever. It shouldn't be too long until events in Australia get that big, right?
