Here we go!.
It all began with MariCAR in Japan

If youre ever planning a trip to Tokyo, you must hunt down their go-karting fantasy,
MariCAR. Its the place to bring all those teenage years of Mario Karting practice to real life. AND you can finally prove to your mum that you werent wasting your time playing games!
Theres bad news for the kiddies though. Before you go racing, you must have a valid Japanese drivers licence or an International Driving Permit or Licence. They do have a strict No license, no drive policy.
In a city thats a bit laxer on their road rules than Australia, youre allowed to drive custom made go-karts around the streets of Japan, dressed up as your favourite Mario Kart character.
Driving in two lines, led by MariCAR employees, you do need to follow some road rules stopping at red lights, going at 60km p/h max, and not crashing into your mates to spin them out.
And sorry to be the fun police, but theres no magical banana peels, flashy stars or shells that you can shoot out of your karts backside.
All the karts are equipped with action cameras, so you can show all your mates how cool you are when you get back home. Seriously blow that photo up, frame it and hang it above your bed! Theyve also got Bluetooth speakers, so you can boom your favourite music while cruising the streets of Japan. The best choice would have to be the theme music yeah?
An epic experienced described as
just wow, this is one thing to add to your travel bucket list.
Here I go.
Will we really be screaming lets-a-go in Australia?

Three words bloody hope so. But the only ones wholl truly know are the organisers once theyve cut through any red tape (and perhaps sent a few sucky emails to Nintendo so they don't try and stop this).
So, make sure you
stay in touch with the organisers if youre super keen to take a ride, Mario Kart style.
Picture yourself cruising through the city. How incredibly cool would it be to have Yoshi pull up next to you at the lights? Or to be stuck in peak hour traffic with the eye-candy of Princess Peach sitting beside you. Or to have Wario try and drag you off at the lights.
And although the road-racing part probably wont happen in Australia, keep everything crossed that itll be a goer at go-kart tracks.
