Steampunk! The patchwork genre where wild west meets the industrialisation of the Victorian era (1837 - 1901). This formerly arcane sub-culture has emerged into the mainstream to become a
widespread interest, fashion repertory and party theme.
For many, Steampunk is more than fashion or story genre, it’s a way of life. Tasmania hosts an annual Steampunk Festival and,
Steampunk.com promotes festivals from around the world. Anyone who shares a fascination with 19th-century science fiction, historical machinery and this anarchistic (hence the

Steampunk, and its first cousin diesel-punk (think Mad Max Fury Road) fashion and installations are also a distinctive part of Burning Man Festival every year.
