Ninja Costumes for Book Week

Whether you’re a fan of Ninjago (ninjas battling the forces of evil) or you enjoy watching the adventures of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we have a range of costumes for you to wear to book week.

Created by the Lego Group, Ninjago features six teenage ninjas must hone their skills to protect the realm from Lord Garmadon, the evil son of the First Spinjitzu Master. The only question you need to answer is: will you be a good ninja or an evil ninja?

Costume ideas:

• Kai: Clad in red armour, Kai is the ninja of fire. He leads the team with his strong sense of justice and intrinsic bravery, and, of course, his trusty sword. Who doesn’t want to dress up as everyone’s favourite Ninjago character? Our Kai boys costume comes complete with minifigure tunic, pants, mask, and pair of lego hands.
• Nya: The only girl in the team, Nya has mastered her element of water and uses it to fight evil invaders.
• Lloyd: Even though he is the son of the evil Lord Garmadon, Lloyd chose to become one of the good guys and follow the path to become the Green ninja. If you want to become the Green ninja yourself, check out our Ninjago Lloyd boys costume, with tunic, pants, mask, and gloves.
• Zane: He is the first Nindroid (robot) ninja, and became the ninja of ice. He is a fearless fighter, and dedicated to bringing peace to the realm.
• Cole: Mastering the element of earth, Cole is known for his strength and fearlessness.
• Jay: Ninja of lightning, Jay brings some much-needed light-heartedness to the team, making the other ninja laugh with his jokes. To transform yourself into this legendary ninja, don our Ninjago Jay boys costume, complete with half mask.
• Garmadon: Poisoned by evil, Garmadon became intent on destruction.

Splinter, a Japanese mutant rat, is left homeless after his owner dies in a battle. He is forced to flee and live in the sewers of New York City. It is there that he finds four baby turtles stranded after a traffic accident, alongside a tube of mutagenic substance. The substance mutates Splinter and the turtles, making them smart and strong.

Costume ideas:

• Leonardo: Tactical and level-headed, Leonardo (or Leo, for short) wears a blue mask and wields two swords. He was named after the Italian polymath, Leonardo Da Vinci.
• Michelangelo: Also known as Mike, or Mikey, this ninja is the goofball of the team. He wears an orange mask, and his weapon of choice is a pair of nunchaku. He is named after the Italian painter Michelangelo.
• Donatello: Donatello wears a purple mask, and wields a bo (staff). He prefers to use his scientific knowledge over brute strength to fight the forces of evil. He is named after the famous sculptor from Florence.
• Raphael: Wearing a red mask, Raphael is the sarcastic one in the group. He doesn't mind delivering the first punch in a fight, and he is fiercely loyal to his ninja brothers and sensei.
• Splinter: He is the sensei (teacher) and stand-in father figure to the ninjas. He named all the ninja turtles after a book of renaissance artists he found in a storm drain. He taught them everything they know about ninjutsu so, together, they can avenge his dead master.
