Grab a Newton's Cradle and feast your eyes on the mysteries of the universe

Everybody knows the Newtons cradle — even if they don't necessarily know it by name. According to Wikipedia, the device has been used in more than twenty movies. It's the row of metal balls suspended by a strings in a cradle formation. You raise one ball, and gravity brings it down into line with the rest of the balls. Only, the balls in the middle of the row don't move, like you might expect.

Instead, the ball on the end goes flying up and out. Then it drops back into line with the rest of the balls and the process starts all over again. It is an enchanting thing to watch, and will really make your desk a better, more interesting place to be.
