Hammer the costume party by dressing your man as Thor

Want to make Thorious thunder at the next costume party? Read on friends.

It’s a relaxing Sunday afternoon, and your guy is cosy on the couch being completely blown away and inspired by the latest Marvel movie. With Halloween and costume party season coming up, it strikes you with a rumble of thunder then a bolt of lightning. No, it’s not the extra spicy Thortilla you had for dinner last night either. “Babe?” “Yeah, babe.” “I’m thinking about costume ideas for the next dress up party... and you should go as Thor.” “Sounds like a great idea babe.” He smiles knowingly. He had been thinking the same thing too, just quietly.

Are you from Asgard? Because you’re out of this world.

Admit it you want your man to be dressed up as one of the world’s most recognisable and admired superheroes. Thor, the muscled, hammer wielding, flowing red cape wearing powerhouse of a man that hollers superhero hotness. You want to be the Thork of the party.

We know what you’re thinking, because we’re thinking it too

Chris Hemsworth. Two words that invoke imagery of flexed pecs and biceps that put the Marvel into marvelous. A ridiculously good looking man perfectly cast as Thor, he hammed it up in the movies, executing superhuman powers to fight for the greater good, and swinging that almighty hammer with ease.

Son of Odin. Crown Prince of Asgard. Norse God of Thunder and Lightning

This most famous and important god in Nordic mythology has an impressive list of titles he’s battled for over the Marvel remake movies. When Mr Hemsworth scored the lead role, Thor accelerated to iconic status as soon as he stepped THAT rippling toned physique into the gladiator-esque ensemble.

There may not be time, or the motivation, to build up the brawn for an authentic Thor bod. Hemsworth trained extremely hard for his Thor roles, but you can fake it until you make it with padded armoury costumes.

To make thunder at the party, here’s what you’re going to need

        • The armour. More so a muscle chest shirt (including the enchanted Belt of Strength - another signature weapon) with attached red cape. Paired with shiny black pants - PVC or leather will do it.

  • Luscious golden locks: if your man isn’t already blessed with a Thorious blond mane, they’ll need the right hair to complete the look.

              • To be a true Thorse to be reckoned with, don’t forget the hammer. There’s a few to choose from at Blossoms Costumes.

                    • Arm guards or wrist gauntlets for extra armoury and deflecting the enemy just in case you drop your hammer. It’s happened. Forewarned is forearmed.
                    • A Thor of all trades and master of them all. Other weapons Thor can handle: Jarnbjorn, the Battle Axe and Odinsword, the Over Sword of Asgard

                  • In the recent Ragnarok movie, Thor has done away with the helmet, but earlier Thor did wear one. It doesn’t hold any additional powers, it’s more a stylish, statement aspect of his warrior trappings.
Before we sign off, we'll leave you with one final thought. Chris Hemsworth. chris-hemsworth-support-image You’re so very welcome.
