Rey

In The Force Awakens, we left the final scene with Rey meeting Luke Skywalker to begin her Jedi training. But as we know, Rey has raw and powerful abilities in the Force, which hasn’t gone well for Luke’s previous apprentice, Ben Solo AKA Kylo Ren. And who were Rey’s parents? The previous film’s secrecy would suggest her lineage is from a family powerful in the force. No doubt the new movie will focus on her training – and Luke’s fear of it. Luke Skywalker

Luke didn’t get much airtime in the previous film. But no doubt he’s set to play a big role in The Last Jedi – which any Star Wars fan will be excited about. After all, he’s the classic protagonist in the series. Fans will be interested to see how and why Luke has changed: from the naïve, fearless hero in the original trilogy to the seemingly frightened hermit we caught a glimpse of in the last film. Kylo Ren

What’s the deal with Kylo Ren, anyway? He was set up as the new trilogy’s answer to Darth Vader, but unlike Vader, his personal demons are already very apparent. He’s conflicted and unstable. And now he has another demon haunting him: the murder of his father, Han Solo, moments before the destruction of Star Killer Base – a devastating weapon he helped create. General Leia Organa

The Last Jedi is the final appearance of Carrie Fisher on the silver screen, playing General Leia, the leader of the Resistance. This will be a significant film for Star Wars fans for whom Leia has been a both a pioneering and adored character in cinema. Will she reunite with her brother, Luke? And how will she confront her corrupted son, Kylo Ren? Poe Dameron and Finn

Introduced in the last film, these two larrikin characters are new favourites in the Star Wars franchise. No doubt there will be plenty of Poe and Finn Star Wars costumes for premiere screenings of The Last Jedi. Poe Dameron is a skilled pilot in the Resistance, while Finn is a courageous First Order defector. Hopefully, both characters will get plenty of screen time in the new film. Chewbacca and Porgs

We really feel for Chewbacca after the death of his best friend, Han Solo. After all, Han and Chewy went hand in hand like PB&J. After Hans death in the closing scenes of The Force Awakens, Chewy helped Rey to meet Luke, and we can’t help but think he’ll find a new partner to travel the galaxy with… Well, if the Star Wars trailers are anything to go by, he’s made a friend: a cute little furball apparently called a 'Porg'. Sure, we don’t know much about this little critter except for a two second shot in the movie trailer. But still, he’s adorable.
